Inside the app, Settings → Help and support opens a message already filled in with the version and device model. It saves a round trip.

"My work stops when I leave the app"

Check that Keep my work running is enabled in the server's entry, and that tmux is installed on it (apt install tmux). Without it, iOS suspends the app, the connection dies, and whatever was running dies with it: no iOS app escapes that.

"The assistant says it is unavailable"

It uses Apple's on-device model. You need a device that supports Apple Intelligence, the feature switched on in the system settings, and the model finished downloading.

"The app asks me to verify a fingerprint"

That is deliberate, and it is the only real protection against interception. Compare the string shown with the output of ssh-keygen -lf /etc/ssh/ssh_host_ed25519_key.pub on the server. If it has changed for no reason, do not continue.
